Don Hoium is the currently serving as the Executive Director of the Saskatchewan League of Educational Administrators, Directors and Superintendents (LEADS).
Mr. Hoium retired as Director of Education for Regina Public Schools in 2011. Mr. Hoium joined Regina Public Schools in August of 2006 as Superintendent, School Administrative Services before assuming the director’s role in 2007. Mr. Hoium began his career in education in 1979 as a teacher with Saskatoon Public Schools, where he also held the positions of Educational Consultant, Educational Psychologist, and Research and Evaluation Coordinator.
He later became the Assistant Director of Education with Saskatoon East School Division. Mr. Hoium joined Saskatchewan Learning in 2000 as Director of Special Education; he has also held the positions of Director of SchoolPLUS, Executive Director of the Capacity Building and Accountability Branch and Executive Director of the Accountability, Assessment and Records Branch.
Mr. Hoium has also served as the Saskatchewan representative on the Canadian Council of Ministers of Education’s Strategic Management Committee and as a Canadian representative on the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s Educational Indicators Networks for both regular education and special education.
He currently serves as a board member of the Saskatchewan Health Quality Council and the Regina Trades and Skills Centre. He is a past president of the Saskatchewan League of Educational Administrators, Directors and Superintendents.
Mr. Hoium is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan. He has earned a Bachelor of Education degree with Great Distinction and a Master of Education degree, with a specialization in Education of Exceptional Children.
